Originally titled "Black and White", this comic is my own head-canon of Luna and Celestia's history, and why they took on Discord. I wanted to make it distinctive, so I decided to make the frames at the start as simple as possible. They are line drawn vectors with no shading. But to make the last frame much more detailed. The switch in styles symbolizes the switch from dreamsmemories to the real world.
The premise of the story is that Luna is reliving the (Presumed) death of her mother at the hands of Discord's soldiers. We don't see ifhow she dies, because Luna doesn't.
There is little that you can do to a child that is crueler than taking their mother away. In my Head-Canon, this is the source of the bitterness and rage that leads Luna on to the events of the pilot episode, which made her into Nightmare Moon.
The comic was drawn in Inkscape, and edited in Photoshop.
The main logo was drawn by Greseres (greseres.deviantart.com/art/ML…. The font is Celestia Redux (mattyhex.deviantart.com/art/Ce…
Discord's soldiers are a modified version of Faultekaiser's Canterlot Royal Guards (faultekaiser.deviantart.com/ar…. Celestia and Luna in Frame 14 are a modified version of *KP-ShadowSquirrel's Are we flying in circles? (kp-shadowsquirrel.deviantart.c….
The last frame started off as a still image of Applejack from the episode "Cutie Pox". I traced it in Inkscape to get the pose and the proportions show accurate, and converted it into Luna. I then exported the basic image into Photoshop and draw the detail. Though I'm not happy with the pillows. The dark parts are far too dark. So I may update it in a while.
Luna's mother is a combination of Fleur De LisPink Champagne and Fluttershy

wait.... so... why did the mother of them looks like Fluttershy?
